Target MLS:
If
you've ever been house shopping (or selling) you've probably encountered the
hugely popular MLS service. Everyone uses it.
Target
MLS is an advertising service that allows homeowners to advertise their
home on their local MLS. By paying a listing fee of between $299 - $599 (the
price depends on the location of the property to be advertised) and offering a
commission to a Realtor, should a Realtor find them a buyer, a homeowner can
save thousands of dollars in Realtor's commissions.
Typically,
homes that have been listed on the MLS sell faster and for more money than homes
for that are sold strictly "by owner". Buyers that deal with "for
sale by owner" sellers usually make low offers, since they figure that the
seller is avoiding all real estate commissions. However, when homeowners list
their home on the MLS, buyers will realize that the sellers is paying a
commission and will be more likely to make a serious offer.
